Bel (Muscular Growth), 2023

This video work is based on my ongoing personal research on the extreme muscular and male body within patriarchal society. Through my extensive collaboration with bodybuilder Jurgen van Wesemael, I got to know his professional world and practice and he got to know mine. We experimented with the notion of objectification, resulting in this video piece where he was bodypainted and ringing a bell with his nose during a session of push ups.
